Format Painter is a very good tool in MS office to copy and paste style. If you click only once on the Format Painter icon to copy the style, the Format Painter goes away after one application.

Double click on the format painter icon and you can use it on different part of the the document until you click on the format painter icon again or press ESC.

However a converter is available from Microsoft to convert MS Office Open XML file format to the previous MS Office version file format. But if you don’t have the converter and want to view the MS Word or Excel 2007 file urgently then you can use Gmail.

Open docx and xlsx in Gmail

Compose a new mail and attach the docx or xslx file which you want to view. Send it to yourself or some other email. Go to the sent folder and open the mail which you just have sent and scroll down to the attachment. Click on the “View as HTML” to view the document.
