Clicked pictures with incorrect date and time? It become really hard to organize photos with wrong date and time.

Most of the picture editing software doesn’t allow to change photo capture date but iPhoto gives a convenient way to update this information.

Change date and time of only one picture

Select the picture and change the date & time from Information Panel in the bottom-left corner of iPhoto window. If the Information Panel is not already open click on button in the bottom-left corner.

Change date and time of multiple pictures

Select the pictures and go to Photos menu -> Adjust Date and Time. Here you can enter the new date & time for all the images. iPhoto preserves the original photos and create a new copy for the edited files so select “Modify original files” option to update original files.

It is great to have quick access to the dictionary while reading or writing, without leaving the application on which you are working.

Dictionary can be accessed quickly from any Apple application like Safari, Mail, Calendar, Pages etc. To access the dictionary, place the mouse curser on the word which you want to find in the dictionary and press Command (⌘) + Control (⌃) + D.

I have around 100 apps in Application folder in my mac. I don’t use all the applications daily but the frequency is pretty good. Out of those apps I use around 40 to 50 application at lease every fortnight.

Now the problem is Dock doesn’t have enough space to accommodate all the application. Even if you throw them on the Dock it become too small to find a application easily which fails the purpose of dock.

There are several applications available which help to organize and access applications. But there is a way of accessing Applications in Applications folder right in the Mac OS X Leopard, which is called Stack.

Drag and drop the Applications folder in the Stack area (just before the Trash icon) on the Dock. Now you are set to go. Click on the Application folder Stack to access applications.

Google launched a Javascript based image creation software for Mac. It uses simple text based javascript code to generate images. It provides the script editor and a option to install a menubar viewer which runs the script and set the images as desktop background.

It uses Apple’s Quartz and CoreImage rendering engines for image generation. You need to have Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) to run this program. You can download Top Draw from here. Here are a few images generated by Top Draw.

Improve your vocabulary while not using your mac. Leopard has a new screensaver which shows new words everyday.

Go to System Preferences -> Desktop and Screen Saver -> Screen Saver tab and select Word of the day screensaver. You can choose the dictionary from options.

While running the screensaver press “D” to view the detailed description of current word.

Do you use screen capture feature on your mac? How do you feel when you need to take many screen captures to embed into your presentations or some other use and it makes your desktop cluttered. Run following command in the Terminal window to change the default path of screen capture. You can find Terminal application in Utility folder.

defaults write com.apple.screencapture location path

e.g. defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/amit/Desktop/ScreenCaptures

And to change the default file type run following command.

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type format

e.g. defaults write com.apple.screencapture type pdf

In fact these commands make entries in com.apple.screencapture.plist file. This file can be found in ~/Library/Preferences/ folder.

Changes may not reflect until logout and login again
